Why is it, when I registered
for eat2go, my browser told me I was in a secure zone, and when I am
placing an order, it tells me I am in a mixed zone?
To make the order process as
fast and simple as possible, the eat2go implementation of
the Food-Port ordering portal is frame based. To eliminate the annoying
and continuous refreshing of the display, as many web-based ordering
systems do, in Food-Port, there are multiple active
documents that communicate with each other during an ordering session. The
registration form is a single document, and that is the difference.
During the ordering process, eat2go employs several digital certificates, for different purposes.
To prevent eavesdropping, these certificates are a part of a 128 bit based
algorithm used
to establish an encrypted connection with your browser. By design;
however, some elements are not subject to this type of transport, like
frame-set data, browser directives, graphic images and other
non-sensitive materials. Hence, your browser
may warn you that you are in a mixed security zone. In general; however,
do not send sensitive or financial information on the Internet, unless
you are sure that the HTTPS protocol is being used. In Microsoft
Explorer®, for example, you can observe the details of the transmission
and the protocol being used on the bottom activity bar. The initial URL
display or any other indicator is not a definitive sign that HTTPS,
instead of HTTP (Hyper Text Transport Protocol), is being used.
